A puzzle that might have you asking for mercy.

We know, we know, always be selling, but friends: If somehow this is your first Rackenfracker puzzle … don't do it. There are lots of puzzles available on the site right now, pick literally any of them.

Don't get us wrong: We're proud of it, solvers report that it's enjoyable, etc., but we followed our muse through the usual unlit alleys and ended up taking our Downright Tricky conceit even further down and to the right. As a piece of cryptic construction, it goes places that we don't normally go, and should you be new here, it may make a poor introduction to what we as constructors are about and what our puzzles are like.

All y'all who have already been inoculated, we're afraid it's too late for you, please enjoy. Thanks to our test solvers Andy, David, and John, and to our editor juff, who we relied on especially this time to keep us on the ... well, to make sure the straight and narrow was always within spitting distance.
